Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage is a single quality framework to support children's learning and
development from birth to 5 years (end of a child's reception year at school).
The EYFS framework seeks to provide:
Quality and consistency
A Secure foundation
Quality of opportunity
Through its Themes of:
A Unique Child
Learning and Development
At my setting....
At my setting each child (from when they start with me until the beginning of their Reception Year at infant school) will have their own Learning Journey.
This is a working document charting each child's progress and achievements using written observations, photos and the children's own work. Parents are actively encouraged to contribute to their child's learning journey.
The EYFS requires me to liaise with other health professionals or settings that your child may attend, such as an occupational therapist, speech therapist, day nursery, preschool or school and create links with them to secure the best outcomes for each child.
A written progress check will be carried out during your child's second year for parents to share with their Health Visitor at the 2 year health check. This is to formalise where your child is progressing well and to identify where they need support.
